I packed all my sewing stuff up today. My serger and machine are in storage in our basement, and I sorted through the UFO pile, put away some notions, gathered up the loose pins. I'm not sure if I'll feel like sewing for the next few months, and with people coming in and out, my parents coming to visit, we thought it would be best to get the dining room table cleaned off.

It's sad though. I sew almost every day, or at least I did before the craziness started. What, someone needs a pair of navy shorts? No problem. Suddenly your pants are all too small? I'll just whip you up a few pairs. We need a birthday gift? Pajama pants!

I can go get the sewing machine of course. It's in the basement, not in Siberia. But anyone who has seen my sewing area knows that it would be a job to clean it up. I doubt that's something I will feel like doing. I think I might get out an ideas notebook in case I see any cute patterns or tutorials.

  1. Hey Sheri, Can Eric set up a table for sewing in the basement? Then if you feel like sewing, you could sew without carrying everything upstairs. Just a thought. I have the same problem. If I sew it is on the diningroom table. I also need a place to sew. We love you and can't wait to see you. Mom

  2. We did talk about that, but I doubt I would sew in the basement. I really do most of my sewing during the day, in the light where I can see. It's hopefully only going to be for a handful of months, so it will be okay.

  3. Hi Sheri,
my heart goes out to you, you will be like a lost boat at sea without your sewing! But you probably will be too exhausted with the treatments.... ever thought about kniting or crocheting, or something else you could hold on your lap while on the couch(when Reese and Eli aren't in it:). Might fill the void a little a give your mind something different to focus on.

  4. I have to say that the sewing thing makes me really sad. I'm going to miss sewing with you, terribly. Seeing you, and sewing with you was always the sanity in my week.

  5. I hope that doesn't sound selfish. I just can't imagine you not sewing. Sewing=sanity.
