Filling in . . .

This is Eric, Sheri's husband.  I thought I would post for Sheri until she gets back to doing these herself.

Sheri has seen such a drastic decline in health over the last few weeks, I am surprised.  Gone from walking normally and not looking the part of a cancer patient, to needing a walker to not being able to move her legs at all as of today.  Sheri asks me to straighten her legs in bed, or pull them up if she is in pain.  I lift her to the wheel chair to get her to the bathroom or lift her into the car if we have to drive anywhere.

The most recent scan reports show widespread tumors: from her hip to her hylar structures; from her spine to her cerebellum.  The number of metastasis just exploded.  The Regorafenib actually showed mixed results in her lungs with some tumors shrinking a bit, but others growing substantially.  With the cancer having spread so much, there is no point in even considering the continuation of Regorafenib even though we have the option now that it is an approved drug for metastatic colon cancer.

So Sheri is now in Hospice.

The nurse is great and the doctor was in today to revew meds and make some changes.  The doc is concerned about Sheri not being able to keep anything down so a few new drugs will be changed out today and if this is not under control by Monday, we have another couple of changes to make that may help.  The problem stems from the tumors in her brain that are aggravating the "puke" toggle switch.  No nausea ever, just "get the bucket" when the toggle gets flipped.

Sheri would appreciate any prayers you can for Reese and Eli.

She is struggling these days.

Eric

Hi Eric, this is Chrisine from MN. Her and I taught together when we first became teachers. I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you all during this time of trial. I can't imagine how you are all handling this but I know that when we think we don't have the strength to handle things, God may not give us the strength, but he does give us people who can help us carry this burden....and I know that your family has a great many people to help you. I am lucky to be counted as one of those that you can lean on. My heart and prayers go out to you all. Please give Sher Bear a hug for me.

  2. Thank you for filling us in Eric. The prayers of so many you know and don't know are going to God to bring you all strength, peace, and protection during this unimaginable time. Praying you all are surrounded with warmth and love. Your wife is an inspiration to many, and I'm sure we all thank you for keeping us posted.

  6. I can't begin to imagine any of what you guys are dealing with, anything I type sounds so trite and of no use.
Your family is constantly on my heart and I'm continually praying for you all though we have never met other than online.
I know that having God in your life doesn't mean that no hardship will come to us and even through this, He knows the bigger picture and we have a hope that goes beyond this life. You are living a legacy of faith before your children and that is so valuable.
I'm constantly praying for you. I know God will be your strength through all of this and that He won't ever leave you or forsake you.
The absolute best thing I have to offer is prayer, for you, for Eric, and prayers for your babies. Hope, peace, strength, may you feel our Father with you at all times, strong and true.
    So many hugs

  15. Thanks for taking the time to update us. We continue to pray and pray and pray. Sheri is so blessed to have you. We are thinking about Reese and Eli often. Please tell them that Mary and Elias say 'hi! we miss you guys!' I feel so sad and heartbroken and I can't even begin to fathom what you all must be going through.
I was thinking about Reese and Eli last night and how worried Sheri must be about how they're handling all this, but I know she has given those children so much love and so much of her heart and soul (being that she is an amazing mother I've long admired) that they will find a way to bear this.
    All our love,
    Sara & family

  21. Sheri is the most amazing mom. I hope she has some inkling of that. She has also helped several of us in our group of friends by giving support and advice during nursing. I know that my relationship with my daughter is closer in Part due to her

  34. Can I simply say what a comfort to discover a person
that genuinely knows what they're discussing online. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More and more people have to look at this and understand this side of the story. I was surprised that you're not more
popular given that you surely have the gift.
